To open SHOWstudio's new gallery space and announce its new direction and commitment of showcasing contemporary fashion illustration as fine art, Bex Cassie presented an exhibition that first looked back, and celebrated SHOWstudio’s long history of championing and showcasing fashion illustration, exploring how the medium can translate across various different formats and can be produced using a variety of different techniques and technologies, uniting illustration with film and photography, celebrating both their differences and unique abilities to elevate each genre when combined. The exhibition serves as a broad survey of SHOWstudio’s illustration archive, encompassing works from as a far back as the early 2000s right through to today and spotlights illustrators who work in unusual manners, while also questioning what illustration can be, and where indeed SHOWstudio intends to take it moving forwards.
